Hosted PBX

What is hosted PBX?

A business uses PBX (Public Branch Exchange – or “switchboard”) technology to manage phone tasks such as call routing, allowing more than one person to be reached from a single number, voicemail, faxing, automated greetings, conference calling, and sending phone calls to the first available person in a department.A hosted PBX offers remote office users, small businesses, and home-based businesses an alternative to purchasing, installing and maintaining their own PBX hardware on site. This approach allows these companies to have access to similar features that a larger company would without the high costs associated with the purchase of on-premise PBX equipment.

What is VOIP?

If you’ve never heard of VoIP, get ready to change the way you think about long-distance and local phone calls. VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a method for taking analog audio signals, like the kind you hear when you talk on the phone, and turning them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet.

How is this useful? VoIP can turn a standard Internet connection into a way to place much cheaper and even free phone calls.

How will it benefit me?

Many small and medium businesses now have a broadband internet connection installed and it makes a lot of sense to get the most out of it. With broadband in place, all calls between and within your offices can be free and customers can call you in the normal way.

So if you have offices in London, Edinburgh, Paris and New York, calls between and within them are secure, reliable and cost nothing. Not only that, but calls outside your network to any telephone anywhere in the world are charged at a much reduced rate than traditional telephony providers.

What are the features?

You have access to all the features and functionality of a modern PBX switchboard at a tiny fraction of the price. These are just some of the features included in all our services: Voicemail and Voicemail Email Alert, Incoming PSTN number, Calling Line ID, Call Transfer, Call Hold, Call Divert, 1471, 123, Call Waiting, Software Telephone, 3-Way Calls  and Multiple Lines.

You can do all of this from your existing PC with our free softphone installed, with your existing telephone hardware (you just need one of our adapters for each phone) or you can invest in our advanced snom Internet Telephones.
